Ferrari F70 Rendering

Ferrari F70 Rendering
This is what the Ferrari F70 might really look like | There are many reasons to get excited about the future of supercars right now. Between the development of the Acura NSX, the next-generation Nissan GT-R, the long line of lusty Lamborghini concepts and McLaren tinkerings, we may very well be on the doorstep of a golden age of exotic engineering. But few of those offerings send us licking our chops quite so quickly as the successor of the legendary Ferrari Enzo throne. Christened the F70 internally, the machine reportedly boasts a hybrid drivetrain brawny enough to bolt the Italian menace to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds.

Odds are there's a healthy V12 mounted midship, and if the whispers we hear happen to be true, the F70 will be able to saunter up to a top speed of 250 mph. Our spy photo friends have produced a pair of renderings for us based on their own surreptitiously snapped images that help cut through the awful body cladding we've seen attached to the test cars frolicking about Europe at the moment.

If the production car looks even remotely as attractive as these sketches, the world is about to become a much sexier place. With lots of 458 in the front and hints of F40 in that engine cover, there's plenty to get excited about here. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until the 2013 Geneva Motor Show before we see the real deal.
