Minister of Agriculture Attends The Orientation Program of Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB. Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Siswono, attended the New Student
Orientation program of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (MPFP) Bogor
Agricultural University (IPB). The present Orientation program for batch
48 students was organized after those new students were officially
declared that they have passed their one-year Joint Preparation Level
(TPB) IPB. The event was held at the Livestock Education and Research
Unit, Jonggol, on 28 August 2012.
The Livestock Education and Research Unit, Jonggol, is a farm land with grazing areas covering an area of 169 Ha, and it is designed as the usual grazing lands in Australia. In this open space the livestocks are managed for grazing freely.
In front of students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry IPB, Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Suswono, stressed that they should be proud to be students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, as animal husbandry is an important field for our country, especially as the protein intake for most of Indonesian is relatively low. Therefore, they are expected to become agricultural experts who are capable to develop agriculture, especially the animal husbandry in Indonesia.
Similar statement was also expressed by Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, that students must undertake breeding breakthroughs to meet the national demands for protein. Furthermore, Rector stated the importance of animal husbandry for us, every day we eat and the animal protein, such as meat, eggs and chicken are always our main menu.
This orientation program took place at the open space as it is a reminder for students that they should be resilient in the field, said Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Dr.Ir.Moh. Yamin, who was responsible for MPFP. "In this field, students will practice how to operate the tractor to grow feed forage and observe the characteristics of livestocks. ( http://news.ipb.ac.id )
